So I call my dermatologist and she suggest going off the meds. So I did so about a week ago. Now, I am itching almost everywhere on my body with a rash that comes and goes. Perhaps the medication is still in my system or is this something that is unrelated to the meds and completely coincidental.
I’ve had so many suggestions as to it’s cause, “Stress, food allergy, contact allergy”. It’s totally driving me crazy. At least there is a physical rash that you can see.. otherwise it would seem I am going crazy.
And today, the hot fire burning sensation has started to happen to my face, and shoulders and back. It’s like I alternate between the hot burning of my skin and severe itching accompanied by welt like rashes.
I think it’s time to actually visit a doctor. If you’ve taken Solodyn and experienced anything like this please let me know! I hope it was the meds and that they will eventually get completely out of my system.
OK.. apparently I am having an allergic reaction to the Solodyn and it can actually remain in my system for up to or possibly more than a month.
Hi, my son has the same rash and I was just researching when I came across your posting. He also started taking solodyn in July and his rash is unbelievable. He had the rash weeks ago and the ER doctor said it was viral. He was on a steriod which ended last Friday. The rash reappeared yesterday. It did not seem like a viral rash and now that it reappeared I very concerned. I’m taking him to the doctor today and I will post his diagnosis.
I have sense gone back to the doctor and had all kinds of test run. Turns out they still think it must have had something to do with the Solodyn. I was give a large handful of XYZAL - which is an antihistamine. I take one at night and the itching and the rash goes away for about 24 hours. When I start itching or seeing the rash again I take another. I only have 3 samples left so when I run out if the rash and itching come back, I’m going to see my dermatologist and if she can’t figure it out I’ll go to an allergist. I still think it’s the Solodyn. It started happening shortly after I started taking it. I found online one other person who said he had burning in the ears, and itching in the head and upper body after taking the same drug. Keep me posted!
I’m experiencing something similar. I also started getting a really itchy scalp that would come and go, and now for the past 2 weeks I also have this welt-like rash that comes and goes. I am 21, not taking solodyn, or anything else for that matter. I’m not using any different soap or detergent or anything that I can think would give me an allergic reaction.
I have also experienced the same burning and itching while taking Solodyn. I have been off the medicine for a week and still continue to itch in different places. The itching seems to spread throughout my body. Are you all still itching or back to normal?
Hi– I was on Solodyn for 3 weeks and had noticed a little bit of itching around my armpits; then one night i started itching badly all over. Took some Benadryl which helped, called the Dr. who said it was a mild allergic reaction and to discontinue the Solodyn. I’ve been off of it for 3 days now and still have some itching at night and a slightly raised red splotchy rash that comes and goes. Still taking Benadryl at night, but worried after reading accounts online of people whose itching didn’t go away after several weeks. How long does it take for this stuff to get out of your system? Anyone have any answers, or has gotten rid of the itching?? It is a complete joke that a medication presecribed to *help* skin problems can have this effect.

The same thing happened to me to a tee about 4 days in of taking Solodyn! I was so afraid it was something else but the timing of it all was just too peculiar for it to be anything else. I continued to take it for another couple days and then put two and two together - Solodyn SUCKS!

hi, i am 18 and have the same symptoms. a personal reference suggested it may be due to great amounts of stress & i have never or am not currently on any medication. at first, my guess was scabies. yet, the rash is too far from blisters. and the welt like rash comes and goes everyday an horribly itches. my advice is to make sure you do not wear any irritating clothes, wash your sheets, and for temp relief dab vinegar on these rashes. i noticed when i start to feak out or experience stress in a moment, the rash appears. so keep your stress level to minimum if possible.
So I have the same rash and itching. It is the worst pain in the world. I haven’t taken Solodyn and am worried that it may be something serious. I’ve tried to pinpoint it down to something I’m eating, the soaps I use, the lotion, etc. But I can’t seem to figure it out. Theres not a particular time of day it happens but it does happen at least 3 or 4 times a day. It does pop out more when I am stressed. Any information on this will surely help. Please keep me posted

Even I have a similar problem. I kinda figured out that everytime I drink soda (like pepsi, coke etc) I get these rashes, even other times I do but not that frequently. I take cetrizine and have never taken solodyn. The itching stays away if i take the tablet. but come back again. It is like am depended on ths medication. This problem started abt 6 months back. Do let me know if you guys have found why this occurs..
