Everyone has a story yet if you ask people to write a book about their life, most people will tell you that they do not have anything to write about. Perhaps it’s not interesting enough. I started writing my book about a section of my life a few years ago. I’ve written over 43,000 words and I’m about halfway finished with the book. The book covers about 1 1/2 years of my life. Imagine if I had to write a book about my entire life! About 30,000 words into my book, I picked up a book at a bookstore called “Your Life As Story”. The book is awesome and the writer,...

If you have every built a new house, you probably know all about the design center phase. We are building our 3rd house so we have had some experience in this arena. As exciting as it might sound picking out the complete interior design of your new home, it’s also quite overwhelming. So many of the decisions you make are based on very small sample size pieces of fabric, carpet, granite, or stone. The interesting thing about Mother’s Day is that I used to think it was a day that I should get a break, a day that I should be waited on and pampered and have very few responsibilities. Reality set in quite a few years ago. It’s not that my kids and husband didn’t try to pamper me or didn’t give me great gifts or tell me how much I was appreciated, it’s that I had the wrong idea about Mother’s Day in the first place. The idea that on...

In addition to practicing Chun Kuk Do for the last couple of years, I started taking a weapons class and we are currently learning to use the bo staff. If you are not familiar with the bo, basically in the 1600’s when Japan conquered Okinawa, the Okinawans developed a means of self-protection by using common farm implements for weapons. Most of what are now traditional martial arts weapons are still used for farming to this day. The Bo is a long wooden staff for herding livestock, guiding boats or used as a way of carrying supplies in baskets. In this instance the Bo was placed across the...
